How To Generate Massive Leads

“How did you generate 1,500+ leads in 48hrs?”

“How can I generate 1,000+ leads for my business?”

I get these questions often so I’ll answer them in this post.

We’re going to be dealing with numbers but I’ll make it as simple as possible. Let’s dive in!

Say 1 in 10 people click your ad or landing page and become a lead.

Then if your target is 1,000 you need to show your ad or landing page to 10,000 people.

But that’s a 10% conversion rate (1 in 10). And even if you’re badass you most likely won’t get 10%. Maybe 5% or even 1%.

The only way to know for sure is to do/test.

Marketing is Ready, Fire, Aim. Not Ready, Aim, Fire. You do, and then you iterate.

You can’t guess/know the conversion rate in advance. You’re not Doctor Strange.

Conversion Rate (CR) = Number of people that clicked/Number of views

For this write-up,

We’re going to assume you’re a badass marketer whose ad/landing page is converting at 5% and wants to generate 1,000 leads.

That means you need 20,000 people to see it. Because 5% of 20k is 1k.

📌 Goal: 20,000 views & 1,000 leads.

So you start to think of,

What platform or group of platforms can I combine to get this in front of 20,000 people? And what’s it going to cost me?

I’ll touch on the cost at surface level, then the platform, then back to the cost at a deeper level.

What’s it going to cost you?

Resources. Time, money, leverage or a mix of all.

If you don’t have a lot of money, then you have a lot of time.

You might think your job is eating into your time. But you’ve got to carve out more time because you’re trying to make more money.

Option 1 is time. Find 20,000 people that look like your target audience and message them all.

Option 2 is a mix of time and money. So maybe you have some money. But just enough to run ads to get 500 leads. What do you do? Get the remaining 500 using your time.

For the platform my go-to’s are:

  1. Facebook and Instagram
  2. WhatsApp (TVs and Influencers)

For FB/IG;
Run your ad, observe the metric from your ad manager, then iterate.

But if WhatsApp is where you’re gathering the leads/building your audience then don’t run the ad on FB/IG.

Because

  1. There’s always a drop in conversion when making people switch platforms
  2. It brings mostly deadbeat leads. Usually its WhatsApp TVs that’ll message you to come and run the ad on their TV

If you must run an ad on FB/IG that is generating WhatsApp leads…

Then use a landing page in the funnel.

This will help filter the deadbeat leads as most of them won’t be willing to click through a landing page.

Some will still click through and message you. But at least it reduces the number.

On FB/IG you can easily see all the metrics on your ad manager automatically calculated for you.

But with WhatsApp ads you’ll need to track using a tracking link. I use Bitly or Kartra to create tracking links. If you’re just starting use Bitly because it’s less complex.

With a tracking link you can see how many people clicked and use it to calculate your CR and CPL (We’ll explore CPL more later)

CR = Clicks/Views
CPL = Ad spend/Leads

You want to INCREASE CR and REDUCE CPL. Do that by improving your ad, your offer, your funnel, and the platform

For WhatsApp TVs and Influencers;

Watch out for 3 things

  1. Audience size
  2. Number of status views
  3. How much influence they have on their audience

Some WhatsApp TVs and Influencers are “I dey hot before before”. But right now nobody really engages or reposts their content

I have a list of WhatsApp TVs and Influencers that have helped me generate thousands of leads this year. Just ask and it’s yours.

Special mention to:

  • 7pm TV
  • Raysgloss
  • Favour Ogazi
  • and Precious Orla

They’re reliable sources to run ads with on WhatsApp.

Option 3 is money.
Now let’s go deeper into cost.

The metric to track is Cost Per Lead (CPL) ie. How much you spent to acquire each lead.

CPL = The Amount You Spent/Number of Leads

Notice it says amount you SPENT not amount you WILL SPEND. You fire then aim. Not aim then fire.

It’s after you’ve ran the ad for a bit that you’ll know your Cost Per Lead (CPL). Then you can iterate from there to reduce it.

You want your CPL to be as low as possible. Because that means you’re spending the least amount to get the most people.

I’ve gotten as low as N10 CPL. But I won’t expect the average marketer or business owner to come close.

Average CPL these days (for a good ad that is ran on a good platform) is around N300.

It used to be N100-200. But increased with more content, ads, and options to choose from

If your CPL is N300 (assuming your ad is good and you chose a good platform)

Then how much would you need to generate 1,000 leads?

CPL = Amount spent/Number of leads

Therefore,
Amount spent = CPL Ă— Number of leads

N300 Ă— 1,000 leads
Amount you will spend = N300,000

Again, that is assuming your ad is good

Because if not your CPL will be higher and you’ll be spending more.

So before you say you want 1,000 leads, do you have N300k to invest in that goal? (Assuming 300k is where your CPL leads you)

Do you have time to mix/replace the money?

And now for option 4. Leverage.

For this one I’ve done 2 methods:

  1. Referral Contests

Giving rewards to people that refer new leads over a certain period of time.

  1. Refer To Get Access

Tell people that indicate interest to your program to share your flyer to gain access

First time I did this I thought “If I generate 1k leads and each person refers at least 1 person then I’ll have 2k leads”

But it doesn’t work like that because most people don’t have any influence over their audience at all

Now if you’re one of those people that don’t have influence over their audience (and you want to)
