Google: “Tallest building in the world” and the Burj Khalifa comes out in all its glory. In the description reads that it rises 591 ft which is pretty accurate but fails to acknowledge a very important detail — it’s foundation.
The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building rising 591 ft tall with over 164 ft of concrete and steel foundation buried deep into the ground. 165 feet! That’s more than the width of a standard football field.
The Little Details Matter
We’re all quick to glorify the success of someone or the beauty of a certain profession without taking into consideration the ugly scenes behind. “Had I known I would have been a footballer, there’s money in it”. There might be money in it but there’s definitely pain behind the gain.
Next time you say you want to be an expert in something, pay attention to the subtle yet important detail of the foundation. Of the 10,000 hours of work required to become that person you want to be. Of the process before the success…the story behind the glory.
